Mindful Immunity

We need now more than ever greater confidence in ourselves, our intuition, our bodies, and our immune systems. There are so many things outside of us we have no control over, and yet we spend our precious qi (aka 'energy') in trying to control things. How many of us overthink because we believe that we have some level of control by thinking about it again and again? The truth is that we have little control over much of the things external to us. If we can accept that, we can be intentional about directing our inner qi to assist our bodies to weather th6e storm, because the bodies are designed to do that. How do you assist your body’s immune system in weathering the storms that are a part of life? First, manage your stress with mindful awareness. Everybody experiences stress. Our bodies are not meant to be in chronic fight and flight pushing our central nervous systems into overdrive. Big changes are happening collectively and individually and its amplifying feelings and emotions and symptoms, even in subtle ways. You may feel okay one moment, and not okay the next moment. The chronic fear and stress from overthinking can make your body’s immune system weaker over time. This is where mindfulness comes in big. Mindful awareness is how you learn to ride these waves and move forward from a space of clarity that arises from the practice. Secondly, listen to what your body needs, and let that guide you above anyone else. When you listen to your body, it will tell you what it wants in terms of food, alcohol, exercise, sleep, supplements and herbs. It’s when you don’t listen to the cues of fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, bloating, headaches, aches and pains, as well as emotions such as irritability, grief, anger, despair that you bypass the opportunity to find out what’s underneath it to heal. Our bodies will tell us when we need to drop everything to rest so we can power up and be able to handle any gale winds coming through our life. When we fail to listen and take action, our bodies are more susceptible to pathogenic invasions.
