When you become our patient, we become your partners in your individual healing journey.
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
In the Initial Eval + Acupuncture treatment (80min), your acupuncturist will conduct a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) exam and medical intake as well as a review of your health history. This will be followed by acupuncture and adjunctive therapies as needed, such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and more for no extra fee. We may incorporate herbs, nutrition, lifestyle counseling, and a flower essence consult if indicated for emotional support. A written report will also be emailed to you afterwards which will include a TCM diagnosis, supplement & nutrition recommendations, and frequency of visits needed to see results. This type of appointment is recommended most to those with little to no experience with acupuncture, or if you've had acupuncture in the past but wanting to start treatment for a new condition/concern.
If you've had acupuncture multiple times before and you are coming in for a continuation of treatment from your last acupuncturist, you may opt for the Initial Acupuncture for Acu Pros (50min) visit instead. This type of session is also a great fit for young adults or children 10 years old and above who might not need as much time on the treatment table.
Bodywork + Massage
Your first session of bodywork includes a structural exam to determine your course of care. The duration of the exam depends on the length of the session booked. If you have multiple areas of concern all over the body, we recommend the 80min or 50min session.
Our bodywork treatments are recommended most for recurrent or chronic pain that has lasted over a week, for example: sciatica, migraines, TMJ, post-injury stress, lack of range of motion, stress related tension or pain, lack of range of motion, or movement related pain, etc. Your case will be addressed on a root level for structural realignment and correction, and requires a series of work in order for improvement and lasting results.
Virtual Consultation (TCM)
Not sure where to start, or perhaps you're curious on how acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can help your specific condition? In a Virtual Consultation, one of our acupuncturists will conduct a TCM exam and intake as well as review your health history and get to know you as an individual. You may also be asked to show your tongue, which is a traditional method to diagnose internal imbalances and offers observable, objective information about the state of blood circulation, hydration, digestion, energy levels, and so much more. Recommendation on a treatment plan moving forward will be provided, and may include other recommendations such as supplements, Chinese herbs, lifestyle adjustments, Eastern nutrition, homeopathic remedies, or more when applicable.
Your session will take place over Zoom and a link to join will be emailed to you right before the start time of your appointment. Being on camera is optional, however you may be asked to turn on your camera for physical examinations upon request. Should you decide to move forward with acupuncture after your consultation, book a Follow-Up (50min) for your next in-person visit.
What to bring
Except for payment and filled out online intake forms, you do not need to bring anything on your treatment day. Most medical information will be addressed in our personal health intake form. If you are coming in for a specific injury or pain management issue, you can bring any medical records pertaining to that injury if you have it, but it is not necessary.
What to wear
For acupuncture, no special clothing is required on the day of your treatment. For a standard acupuncture session, wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes. For a bodywork or massage session, please arrive wearing clothes that are comfortable to move and stretch in, such as yoga pants, leggings, sweatpants, sports bra, gym shorts, etc.
Before + after treatment
Before treatment, it is wise to have something light to eat and to be hydrated.
After acupuncture, it is normal to feel relaxed or light-headed immediately following treatment. Most people go about their normal work day after a treatment, but we recommend giving yourself some extra time to relax and ease into the remainder of your day, especially if this is your first time experiencing acupuncture.
After a neuromuscular bodywork session, it is normal to feel soreness or light bruising. This is all a part of the healing process and happens because of the breakdown of lactic acid. In order for your muscles to rebuild and properly heal, it may take up to 24-48 hrs (in few cases, a little longer).
Cancellation / No-Show Policies
Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or do not show for their appointment, will be charged the FULL COST equivalent to the appointment that was booked.
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or no-show leaves a gap in the therapists' day that could have been filled by patients on our Waitlist.
As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment.
LATENESS: As a courtesy to all of our patients, we strive to begin appointments on time. If you are running late, we will provide the best treatment possible for you in the remaining time allotted.
We offer packages of Follow-Up treatments available at a discounted rate. For more information, click on the Packages Menu button or call 312-335-9330 or email email@example.com.
