MASSAGE THERAPY

This is the practice of applying pressure to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints.  A form of therapy, massage can be applied to parts of the body or successively to the whole body, to heal injury, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, improve circulation and relieve tension.  It is used for its physical and psychological benefits.

At Source Healing, massage therapy is an adjunct to other therapies, such as chiropractic, naprapathy, and acupuncture. Below are techniques that we use:

Myofascial release – a massage technique that manipulates the fascia – the connective tissue between the skin and the muscle – which stimulates the connective tissue fibers to reorganize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion.

Acupressure (Tui Na)– a traditional Chinese therapeutic massage technique that uses the fingers to put pressure on acupuncture points on the body, accessing and releasing blocked energy paths (also known as Meridians) in the body.

Trigger Point – similar to acupressure, trigger point massage addresses the body in layers, from surface muscles to deeper ligaments and connective tissues.

Reflexology – reflexology is a powerful natural health science that studies the relationship of the reflex areas in the feet, hands and the ears to the rest of the body so that these areas can be worked on by the practitioner in a manner that will lead to improved health and the maintenance of good health.
