Interest in Chinese medicine began for Mary while studying abroad in Scotland through a course called Spirituality, Health and Healing. The class explored alternative therapies to achieve health, how our perception can alter our health, and healing when physical healing is not possible. Combined with an interest in medicine and Taoist philosophy, she returned to the states and enrolled at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, where she received a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine.
She is nationally board certified by NCCAOM and licensed in the state
of Illinois. Mary has a strong background in science, with a B.A. in
Biology from the College of Wooster in Ohio and extensive scientific
research experience at several medical schools and labs. Her interest
in Chinese medicine was evident even in undergraduate school, where
she performed an independent study on the prevention of colon cancer
in rats using Huang Lian, a Chinese herb. The more Mary explores Chinese
Medicine, the more she is thrilled to have become devoted to the lifelong
study of it. Its ability to help patients come into balance and awareness
can promote healing on several levels. Mary enjoys treating headaches,
digestive disorders, emotional disharmonies, women’s health issues,
male and female fertility, sleep disorders and respiratory disorders.
Mary uses acupuncture, Chinese herbs, massage, Chinese nutritional therapy,
and other accessory technique to promote healing and well being.
